This is where we connect a test display during diagnostics.

How we go about it

  1. Try a test display

We connect our own working display. If it shows a picture, yours is faulty. If it doesn't, the fault is on the board.

  2. If it is the board, we repair the board

A display that stays dark can have a healthy panel and a faulty backlight circuit on the board. We repair that by micro-soldering and you keep your original display.

  3. Choose the part grade

The cheapest is a used original, and we often have it in stock. A new non-original display is the compromise. A new Apple original costs the most and takes 1 to 2 weeks to arrive.

  4. Replace the whole assembly

On Retina MacBooks the panel is bonded to the lid, so we replace the whole assembly including the cables. We match the lid to your MacBook's colour.

  5. Set up and test

On newer models we calibrate the lid angle sensor. Then we test the picture, brightness and camera.

What it costs

Our price list starts display replacement at 4,900 Kč. The price depends mostly on the model and the part grade: a used original, a new non-original display or a new Apple original. Diagnostics cost 890 Kč and we order nothing without your approval.

If a replacement is not worth it on an older MacBook, we offer to buy it.

Frequently asked questions

Can just the glass or the panel be replaced?

On Retina MacBooks the panel is bonded to the lid and the glass. We replace the panel alone only rarely, because it risks small cosmetic flaws. So we almost always replace the whole assembly.

What is the difference between a used original and a non-original display?

A used original is an Apple part from another MacBook in grade B or C, so the lid may have small scratches. A non-original display is new, only its colours and brightness may differ slightly from the original. A new Apple original makes no compromises, but it's also the most expensive.

How long does a replacement take?

When the display is in stock, often the same or the next day. A new Apple original has to be ordered and takes 1 to 2 weeks.

What warranty do you give?

It depends on the part. Usually 3 to 6 months on a used original and 6 to 12 months on a new non-original. The exact length is in the quote.

The display goes dark only at a certain lid angle. Does it need replacing?

On a 2016 or 2017 MacBook Pro it's usually flexgate, a cracked backlight cable. We repair that and you don't need a new display. On the MacBook Air M1 we don't repair cables in the bend; such a repair wouldn't last long.

I need a report for my insurer.

We issue a service report with photos of the damage.
